This low fat smoothie recipe takes the traditional banana and orange recipe to a new level by combining multiple delicious fruits for a taste sensation that starts your day right. Quick, easy, and nutritious – this is the recipe I typically make for breakfast after a brief morning workout.
You will need:
- Frozen pineapple chunks
- 1/2 Banana, peeled (eat the other half – it’s good for you!)
- Orange juice
- Frozen sliced peaches
- 2-3 Frozen strawberries (optional)
- 1 Tbsp Protein Powder (optional, but recommended)
Fill the smoothie blender cup about half way with a mixture of pineapple and peaches. Add the 1/2 banana and protein powder and optional strawberries. I usually do not use the strawberries, because they are an overpowering flavor as I mentioned before, but every once in a while they make a nice change of pace for this low fat smoothie recipe. Pour the orange juice to about an inch from the top, keeping in mind that the protein powder will expand when blended. Blend until smooth and enjoy.
Low fat smoothies make a great breakfast when you are in a hurry, especially this peach, banana, and orange recipe. I typically add an additional tablespoon of protein powder on mornings when I workout to help with muscle recovery. You’ll notice that I did not use any yogurt in this recipe. This low fat smoothie still gets that delicious smooth texture when blended because of the banana that was added. If you like the smoothie even more milkshake-like, add a tablespoon of non-fat vanilla yogurt.
